Little-Man, Man-Sized Scar |

By Lil-Isaac So I still might be a little-man, but I've got a man-sized scar! You see, I was born with Sagittal Synostosis. The sutures in my head fused early and forced my head into an elongated shape. My mom and dad decided to get my head fixed so it would be nice and round instead of kinda football shaped. I'm glad they did because I heard that if I hadn't had the surgery, I would not have been able to wear a normal helmet to play football or ride a motorcycle, and now I can. My dad says I can't own a motorcycle until I'm 40! Mom and Dad heard that surgeons at the Children's Hospital in Denver did a LOT of Cranial Synostosis surgeries. Apparently, it's more common than I thought. They told us that they've performed over a thousand surgeries over the past 17 years.  Anyway, they did a good job on me! I've got a sweet scar, and you can hardly see it under my hair. My head is nice and round, if not a little on the big side (thanks Dad!)

I wish it were as easy as ordering food off of my favorite menu. "Yeah, I'll take the shredded chicken burrito, smothered, and add another plate of God's plan for my life..." 
So my editor comes up to me a week or two ago at church after an amazing sermon from our pastor on destiny and has an epiphany... 
"Bones Heal, Chicks Dig Scars, Pain is Temporary, Glory is Forever." Evil Knieval said that, though perhaps you have heard the paraphrase that fictitious Simpsons character Lance Murdoch tells Bart during the "Bart the Daredevil" episode: "Bones heal. Chicks dig scars. And the United States of America has the best doctor-to-daredevil ratio in the world!"
So i still might be a little-man, but I've got a man-sized scar! You see, I was born with Sagittal synostosis... 
I was on Man-Duty when it happened. We needed a bunk bed for the boys' room. Not just any bunk bed, mind you... 
These are chemical burns/scars in the making from the Summer of 2007...
